1. Ensure a healthy and rich, loose garden soil that is capable of retaining moisture and ensure deep and healthy root systems for plants - add loads of compost as much and often as possible.
2. Choose a drip irrigation system over a misting irrigation system.
3. Water early morning and late afternoon. Water less often but for longer periods to force plants to develop deep and strong root systems that can draw moisture from deeper down.
4. Mulch all garden beds using compost, loads of old gardening material, bark chips, straw, etc. to prevent moisture loss.
5. Group plants together according to their watering requirements and opt for hardier waterwise plants instead that requires less water.
